Contemplation of Change

The Contemplation stage of the Behaviour Change Framework is when you are aware of your problems and have decided to change, at least in the next 6 months.

You may be feeling quite ambivalent (in two minds) about wanting to put the wheels into motion but recognise that you ‘need’ to make changes and cannot carry on the way you have been.

It is in this contemplation phase that we would expect prospective clients to get in touch with us to organise an initial consultation.

Here at Lee Psychology we believe that this initial step should not have any financial strings attached to it, so we offer a free inital chat lasting about an hour when we can explore what you want and if we can help.

Research shows that less than 50% of smokers in contemplation of quitting will manage more than 24 hours without a cigarette

Contemplation Behaviours

Because the contemplation stage of change is a phase of ‘intent’ rather than a set of actual behaviours, effective change is unlikely to take place.

Whilst intent is a prerequisite for change, it is not enough on its own.

Intent needs to become action in order to facilitate change.

Arrange a FREE initial consultation

If you’d like to find out more about the contemplation stage of behvaiour change and what you can do next, then why not arrange a free initial consultation with us.

During this consultation we will discuss your particular problems and the potential solutions in a safe and confidential environment without you having to commit to any therapy or counselling going forward.

The consultation lasts around 50 minutes and is a great opportunity to meet our therapists and decide if you would like to proceed with any support.
